Who we are
howtopreventacne.org is published by Artha Capital, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 97349860, Haarlemmerweg 888, 1014 BL Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We are responsible for the data described here. Questions: privacy@howtopreventacne.org.
What we process
- The trigger check: the boxes you tick are handled in your browser only. We don't send or store your answers. If you allowed statistics, we record that the check was used, not what you ticked.
- Visit statistics: which page you view, the referring website, how long and how far you read, and which links and buttons you click, together with technical details of your browser and device (such as screen size, language and time zone).
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and requested pages in our hosting provider's server logs, used only for security and to keep the site working.
Visit statistics
We use Amplitude (EU data center) to count visits. Your browser sends the data to our own address (/api/e/), which forwards it to Amplitude together with your IP address, from which Amplitude derives an approximate country and city. We do not store the IP address ourselves. The visit is linked to a random number that lives in your browser tab's session storage and disappears when you close the tab. We use no cookies for this.
If you visit from the European Economic Area or nearby, we only start counting after you click “Allow” in the statistics notice. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie choice” at the bottom of the home page.
The link to acne.today
The “Start my analysis” buttons lead through our address /go/analysis to acne.today, a separate paid service for an AI face analysis. The link tells acne.today that you came from this site (for example “src=prevent”) and, where relevant, which result you saw in the trigger check (“type=…”). We receive no photos, answers or payment details from acne.today. acne.today has its own privacy policy. We may earn money when you buy the analysis through these links.
Legal bases
- Visit statistics for visitors from the European Economic Area: your consent. For other visitors: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages help.
- Server logs and security: our legitimate interest in a safe, working website.
- Answering your questions by email: handling the request you make.
Storage in your browser
| Name | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| vConsent | Remembers your statistics choice. Local storage, never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
| _v_d, _v_s, _v_n, _v_z | Random visit number for statistics. Session storage of your tab, not a cookie. | Until you close the tab |
| pvDock | Remembers that you closed the bar at the bottom of the screen on mobile. | Until you close the tab |
How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for up to 90 days. Statistics are kept in Amplitude for as long as they're useful for improving the site, at most 2 years. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your question, at most 2 years.
Sharing
We share data only with Amplitude for statistics and with our hosting provider, as far as needed. We don't sell data.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your data, and to object. Send your request to privacy@howtopreventacne.org; we reply within four weeks. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority where you live.
Changes
